Thursday night saw the kick-off of the club ladder competition, with a bang! The person at the top of ladder at the end of the year will be declared the Club Champion.
With the stronger players at the end of the ladder, the first few minutes saw eager challengers running around looking for large ladder climbing challenges, who themselves claimed to be busy waiting for their own challenges to become available! The competition rules are:
Games as clock timed 20 minutes with a 3 second increment.
Choice of black or white pieces via random selection of "hidden piece in hand".
You can challenge up to 5 positions above you on the ladder.
If the challenger wins, they insert their name tag on the ladder above the name of the challenged, which moves them and possibly several others down a position on the ladder.
You can only challenge a given person once during the night.
